Our Years 2, 3 and 4 teams play at Michaels Ave on alternating Friday nights and Saturday mornings against other Ellerslie and Cornwall teams following the Kiwi Cricket format.

SEASON

• Friday 3rd November – Saturday 16th December (Pre-Christmas)
• Friday 9th February – Saturday 23rd March (Post-Christmas)

WHEN

Friday evenings and Saturday mornings alternating.

Please note the change this season: As per Cornwall’s competition structure, our Year 2 – Year 4 teams will play on alternating Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.

For example: Week 1 – Year 4 cricket on Friday evening and Year 2 & 3 cricket on Saturday morning. Week 2 – Year 2 & 3 cricket on Friday evening and Year 4 cricket on Saturday morning. This swaps with every week.

We will give out the season schedule as soon as we have it so you can plan accordingly. All games will be at Michaels Ave regardless of day played. 

WHERE

Michaels Ave Reserve

TIME

• Friday games start at 5pm.
• Saturday games start at 8:30am.
• All games last between 90 minutes and 2 hours.

WHAT

• Each side bats for 16 overs. Each batting pair bats a minimum of 4 overs whether they get out or not. Each player bowls a minimum of 2 overs. The emphasis of the game format is for everyone to have FUN, and to have equal opportunity to develop cricket skills.
• The games are played using “Incrediballs.” These are soft cricket balls made out of PVC, which have a stitched seam like a real cricket ball. There is no need for pads, gloves or other protective equipment, as the balls are much softer than a real ball.

• Teams will have one practise session during the week as advised by their team coach.

CANCELLATIONS & FIXTURE CHANGES

• Double-checking your fixture on PlayHQ here on a Friday evening to make sure there have been no changes made to times or venues is a good habit we recommend.
• For wet weather cancellations, please check the Auckland Cricket website here first. Cancellations will be posted by 7am on Saturday mornings.
• Coaches/managers if you are unsure if the game is on, we encourage you to use the contact list we will provide you, to call the opposition team coach/manager to discuss this. If a mutual agreement cannot be made, the home team manager has final say on pitch condition and playability.  If a game is abandoned, the home team coach/manager must enter the game as abandoned on PlayHQ immediately.
• For grade-wide cancellations or a Michaels Ave field closure, an email will be sent out to all team members and a text will be sent to coaches/managers. Make sure to follow our Facebook page here as we will post cancellation updates where we can.
• If a specific team is cancelled or game is changed Friday evening onwards, we will send a text to the coaches and managers.
