v Hibiscus Coast @ Michaels Ave #1 (11 Nov & 18 Nov)
Ellerslie: 97-10 in 37.1 overs (Dhruv Dogra 23) and 167-6 in 65 overs (Kasi Alagappan 37, Joe Ganner 34,) LOST FIRST INNINGS against Hibiscus Coast: 258-10 in 69 overs (Sam Edkins 6-76)
Ellerslie lost the toss and were sent into bat on a green deck. Our batters struggled and the side collapsed, posting just 97 in our first dig.
Hibiscus Coast passed our score, just 4 wickets down. They finished day one 80 runs ahead. Day two saw Hibiscus Coast look to score quick runs before declaring. However our bowlers had other plans, taking the reamaining 5 wickets for just 75 more runs in 16 overs. Jack Walmsley grabbed 2 in a tidy second spell, whilst Sam Edkins picked up the other 3 to close out the innings.
Ellerslie's second dig started in the worst possible fashion, with Ryan "Rig" Wall dismissed for a golden duck. However our batters dug in and ground out the day in a mortar & pestle like fashion. Kasi Alagappan and Joe Ganner both contributed 30s.
After the disappointment of day 1, we showed a lot of improvement. It was a solid effort from the boys on day 2, which we will need to build on in our next two-day game.

Presidents
v Hibiscus Coast @ Michaels Ave 3# (18 Nov)
Ellerslie: 181-9 in 35 overs (Chamala 55, John P 33) WON against Hibiscus Coast: 176-8 in 35 (Alan H 3-24 off 4) by 5 runs
Conditions were not favourable to big scores and Michaels #3 has her natural demons in the freshly laid pitch.
Ellerslie were sent in and started well, with Chamala to knock up a superb fifty. Low and behold, Russell got himself a Golden Duck. Pressure on but steady nerves and good rotation saw Ellerslie 3/90 on the turn. Time to take advantage, however we lost our way to end with a respectable 181 off the 35 overs.
The bowling effort and Hibiscus re-balanced well after a early wicket loss. Ellerslie were bowling well but not bowling to the pitch. Come the 17 over, Hibiscus were 2/72 over 16 and Raj takes two in a row. Come the hat trick ball, hit in the air and dropped ... Oh my!!!
Hibiscus after the turn started to make in roads into the chase. Finally... a bowler to use the pitch, Alan Hurst. big spinning donkey drops, which would occasionally bounce, not bounce, spin a mile, slow down and many other variations. In a course of 3 overs, took the match away with three fantastic wickets. However, game still on with 12 to win of the last over. Alan bowls letting only 6 runs to be had and Ellerslie win by 5 runs.
Wow - that was close. Man of the Match, David W relaying text messages from the club room to Jono on the side line to advise the team sternly, to sort their s%^t out. Ultimately, David leaves the club rooms to shout from the sidelines for Ellerslie to sort their s%^t out.
Well done to the Presidents, another victory and General Knowledge QUIZ Winners that very night.
