(No column name)

Boys Grade 7

v Turner @ Waikaraka Park 4 (18 Mar)

Ellerslie: 96 all out in 27.5 overs (Alex f 17 Flyn 17 Alex P 12) LOST against Cornwall Turner: 97 for 8 in 24.3 overs (Tharana 3 overs 2 for 4 runs Alex P 3 overs 2 for 12 Alex F 3.3 overs 2 for 17 Flyn 2 overs 0 for 2 Bharat 3 overs 1 for 6) By 2 wickets

A slow batting performance that never posed a threatening score to chase. A good fielding defence of the score came close to an upset but just not enough runs was too hard to hold out.

Performance of the day: Alex P for 2 wickets a catch and some runs

v 7b @ Waikaraka Park 3 (04 Mar)

Ellerslie: 129 - 9 in 25 overs (Flynn 45 Xavier 22 Bharat 15) LOST against Grafton : 132 all out in 24.1 overs (Bharat 4 overs 4 for 12 Alex 4 overs 3 for 19 ) By 3 runs

A promising start to bowl the opposition out with an achievable total to chase.

However a batting collapse saw it lucky that we even made it to the end of play.

The two final partnerships of 40 and 38 saw the score get close but never quite get there.

Performance of the day: Xavier for last wicket batting to add some respectability to the score

v 7b @ One tree hill college 1a (25 Feb)

Ellerslie: 151 - 4 in 25 overs (A good total that was potentially defendable with good knock by Flyn 50 and Thomas 34) LOST against Howick Pakuranga: 153 -4 in 21.4 overs (An average bowling display allowed the opposition to pick up a win by chasing down the score. Too many extras proving to be the difference. Alex F taking 2 wickets in one over provided some good news.) By 6 wickets

A better performance in the field might have seen this one go our way. Something to work on.

Performance of the day: Alex F for accurate bowling

A close fought game which could have gone either way however a constant batting effort saw the runs chased down without any panic.

Great fielding early to restrict the score and a hat trick to Jack.

v St Peters @ Waikaraka Park 1 (04 Feb)

Ellerslie: 162 for 3 in 26 overs (Thomas 51 retired 1hour 28 mins Smit 47 1 hour 17 2nd wicket partnership of 129) WON against Cornwall St Peters : 42 all out in 15.4 overs (Smit 3 wickets for 6 runs from 2.4 overs Tharana 2 wickets for 6 runs from 4 overs including a wicket maiden Xavier 2 wickets for 5 runs from 2 overs ) By 120 runs

Finally a game a waikaraka park on a grass pitch.

A good solid batting stand for the 2nd wicket built a good base to extend and then defend

A great bowling and fielding performance defended the total with time to spare.

Opposition innings lasting less than an hour.

Performance of the day: Smit for batting and bowling

v Titans @ Lloyd Elsmore 7a (10 Dec)

Ellerslie: 65-10 in 20.2 overs (Thomas 30, 3x 4s ) LOST against Howick Pakuranga: 66-3 in 16 overs (Eli 2 ov 2w for 4 runs ) By 7 wickets

v 7b @ Mangere center park (03 Dec)

Ellerslie: 136 -6 in 25 overs (Flyn 42 Thomas 29 Bharat 12 ) WON against Eden Roskill: 127-6 in 25 overs (Flyn 2 for 13 off 4 overs Bharat 1 for 15 off 4 overs Alex 1 for 13 off 3 overs ) By 9 runs time completed

A good display with the bat to provide a dependable total.

Good early wickets in the 2nd half saw early control however some lacklustre bowling or good batting by ER saw them come close to chase down the total.

Performance of the day: Flyn for both bat and all round fielding

v De Grandholme @ MWWM 5A (19 Nov)

Ellerslie: 89 in 24.3 Overs (Thomas 16 off 20 balls 3X 4s Hendrix 12 off 17 balls 1X 4 1 X 6) LOST against Howick Pakuranga: 147/8 in 28 Overs (Bharat 4 Overs 2 for 13 1 maiden Hendrix 4 Overs 2 for 24 ) by 58 runs

While the year 7 team showed a good fielding performance and could have dismissed the Howick team for less they couldn't get there with the bat.

They show good promise to restrict the opposition batters

Performance of the day: Thomas - close catch at the stumpos and an assisted run out, plus a strong opening batting stand
